Johnny Is Starting 3rd At Road Atlanta + Comments
Johnny turned a lap time of 1:22.689 to earn a third place position on the starting grid for tomorrows Trans-Am race at Road Altanta.
Butch Leitzinger led the pack with a time of 1:22.398. Boris Said was second with a 1:22.689. Johnny 3rd, followed by Paul Gentilozzi 1:22.808, Stu Hayner, Tone Ave, Max Lagod (way to go Max!), Michael Lewis, Randy Ruhlman, John Baucom, and Don Sak rounding out the top 10.
Johnny noted on his qualifying effort… “Yesterday was just one of those days when we had a lot things that hindered us from getting a lot of track time. We worked on the data and looked at what Paul did. We pieced together a pretty good lap today. We actually had two or three potentially good laps but traffic was a major factor. We made a couple of mistakes but still pulled off a good time.
“It’s a good race car. It feels good like I could drive it with one hand. I know what it’s going to do for the race. I think it’s going to be a very nice race between the top five or six cars tomorrow.”
