MILLER SIGNS ON TURN ONE MOTORSPORTS AS ASSOCIATE SPONSOR
Kershaw, SC - Turn
One Motorsports Racing & Adventure School has inked an associate sponsorship
with Johnny Miller for the 2002 Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich Tires
Cup, announced General Manager Joe Hooker and driver Johnny Miller. This
relationship marks Turn One Motorsports first sponsorship of a race car
driver in a professional series.
Turn One Motorsports joins associate sponsors Eaton Cutler-Hammer, AVG,
Unishippers, Facts Engineering, and Quantum Automation on the No.64 AutomationDirect
Jaguar XKR driven by Miller out of the Rocketsports Racing camp. AutomationDirect
has been Miller's primary sponsor since 1996.
"I was familiar with Johnny's driving abilities and accomplishments.
After a brief conversation, it was easy to respect him for his commitment
and fascination with motorsports," explained Hooker. "He's a
great guy, knowledgeable, and terrifically talented. He's also very good
at communicating that knowledge and talent to others which is a perfect
fit for Turn One.
"Many of us here have roots in the SCCA and compete in club racing,"
said Hooker. "Our association with the Series makes good sense since
we race at some of the same tracks and several drivers transitioned to
Trans-Am through club racing. The cars harbor amazing technology, but
still typify big bore production cars. One of our goals here is to groom
drivers for big bore class club racing.
"Our sponsorship will be invaluable for the business," continued
Hooker. "Johnny has been instrumental in evaluating our programs
and cars to ensure that we offer the most professional, informative, and
safe programs. One sector of our target market is the road racing fan,
perhaps an SCCA member. Johnny has a great rapport and following with
that group. We believe his involvement will raise the level of credibility
of our programs and increase sales within that market segment."
Miller stands second in points and has two top-three finishes in three
starts. In 2001, he scored five podium finishes, seven top-five finishes,
and finished in the top-ten in every race, completing every lap of the
season. Miller has 28 career top-five finishes and was voted "Most
Improved Driver" in 1998.
Turn One is a professional driving school featuring stock car road racing
and offers individual and corporate programs and Track Day events. Headquartered
at Carolina Motorsports Park, the school is located in Kershaw, SC.
